Social Commerce Strategist / Client Partner, Bazaarvoice
Ian is a Social Commerce Strategist & Client Partner at Bazaarvoice, whose technology helps clients capture, display, share, and analyze customer conversations online. He is part of the leadership team within the Retail Client Success practice, where he assists some of the world’s best retail ecommerce sites implement customer voice programs. His focus is extending the use of customer voice throughout the business and ensuring that these programs are measureable, because he believes that in the 21st century, "he/she/it with the best data wins".
Ian has worked in the online space throughout his career, working across the retail, B2B, and travel verticals, developing experience in the social commerce, web analytics, search engine marketing, and user experience design fields. Prior to Bazaarvoice, Ian led the client services team at Apogee Search (now Apogee Results), and held leadership positions at Coremetrics, and Macquarium Intelligent Communications. Clients Ian has assisted include 1-800 Flowers, Best Buy, Estee Lauder, HSBC, HomeAway, IHG, Lands End, QVC, The Home Depot, and W.W. Grainger.
Ian attended Georgia Tech’s graduate program in Information Design and Technology, which was his second tour of duty at Georgia Tech. His first tour resulted in learning to think of the world as a design problem and degree in architecture. He was fortunate enough to spend a year studying in Paris, where he learned a lot about the city's history, urban planning, and the art history, but his French is still pretty bad.
When not online, Ian can usually be found trying to raise his son and make his wife happy; catching up on his reading or clearing out his DVR’s recorded TV drivel; traveling; or learning to sketch (again). You can follow Ian at @ifss.
