Search Marketing Expo Speaker:

Rick DeJarnette

The SEO Ace, President

Rick has more than 18 years of experience in technical content development. After moving to the Seattle area in 1997, he worked in and around Microsoft as a technical writer for IT Pro and end user content. In 2008, he began working for Microsoft's Live Search team to update the Webmaster Center Help. He quickly moved on to editing, then managing and working as the primary contributor to their Webmaster Center blog, developing a library of deep, technical content about search engine optimization (SEO), keyword development, link building, content development and much more.

In the fall of 2010, he transferred to the Bing Editorial team to work as an in-house SEO consultant, where he developed their official, internal guidelines for SEO as well as created workshops on including SEO considerations in the workflow process for the page design, engineering, and editorial teams. He also performed page reviews, participated in link building campaigns, and reporting findings up to executive management.

After leaving the Bing Webmaster Center blog, he soon wanted to return to writing, so he founded his own blog covering SEO and content development issues, The SEO Ace. As of later in 2011, he left Bing and free-lanced as an SEO consultant locally in the Seattle area. He recently worked with Jim Boykin and his Internet Marketing Ninjas team, contributing to their SEO blog, performing site reviews, and much more. He's also been a monthly columnist for Search Engine Land since the summer of 2011.

In his free time, Rick is a history buff, technology enthusiast, Beatles maven, Tour de France fan, and an Alton Brown wannabe. He can also occasionally be found on Twitter at @rickdejarnette. Note that he never tweets about what he's eating for breakfast!
