Janet Stauble joined Bankrate as the Social Media Community Manager in September 2010. Though she's quite fond of creating catchy 140-character tweets, her goal was to take social media initiatives beyond having a presence on Facebook and Twitter.
Janet developed Bankrate's social media strategy with a few things in mind: SEO, marketing, PR, reputation and crisis management, and customer service.
Through social media, Janet connects with journalists, bloggers, financial experts and sources. She has made Bankrate a thought leader in the personal finance community online.
She monitors Bankrate's brand and the conversation surrounding it on blogs, social networks and forums, and has secured the brand's name on hundreds of social media sites.
Customers know they'll receive a quick response through social media. Many people just want to know where to find a credit card or check out money market rates, and Janet points them in the right direction.
Along with the SEO and PPC teams, Janet has worked on initiatives from changes with Google such as authorship markup, direct connect and social extensions in PPC campaigns. She's also working on optimizing onsite social technology.
Until recently, much of Bankrate's social footprint growth has been organic, but Janet manages paid campaigns on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and has secured expanded tweets for Bankrate. She's been quoted in USA Today and Voice of America news about social media.
Prior to Bankrate, Janet worked as a copywriter and social media coordinator for DentalPlans.com.
