Gib Olander

SIM Partners, Vice President of Product


As vice president of product for SIM Partners, Gib directs innovation and product development for Velocity, the company’s SaaS-based local marketing automation platform. Under Gib’s leadership, Velocity’s capabilities have expanded to include a powerful location data management tool to drive listing visibility, a content management system that automates the creation of location-based content and experiences, and a robust insights platform to inform local content strategies.

Gib has spent nearly 20 years helping businesses be found locally online. A pioneer in the location data management space, Gib was a founding member of the Localeze team that conceptualized and ultimately created listing management for local search. As vice president of product for Localeze, which sold to Neustar in 2011, he led product and marketing development as well as set the standards for proper name, address, and phone number (NAP) data structures that are still used by major data aggregators and publishers today.

Previously, Gib was in business development at during the acquisition of, which resulted in the creation of the first national city guide specializing in local search. Gib was also the founder and CEO of Local Viewpoints (now part of, which was an award winning, VC funded SaaS business that took a mobile-first approach to collecting, analyzing, and publishing customer feedback and reviews.

A recognized industry thought leader, Gib speaks frequently at industry conferences, including BIA/Kelsey, PubCon, SES, and SMX. He has also written for publications such as Street Fight, Search Engine Land, MediaPost, and Visibility Magazine, as well as the SIM Partners blog.

Gib lives in Elmhurst, Illinois, with his wife, Meg, and their twin children, Teddy and Julia. In his free time, he enjoys baseball and coaching youth sports.
